2023 Mission Trips

After Hurricanes Eta and Iota ravaged Honduras, thousands of families have been left dealing with damaged or destroyed homes. In addition, community schools, water projects, and electrical systems have been wiped out across Northern Honduras. This is in addition to the extreme poverty that already existed in the country. Add to that the economic recession and difficulties that the Pandemic brought to the most impoverished families in the region. It should be of little surprise then that the 2022 country reports for Honduras have found that the percentage of families living in poverty in Honduras went from 60% in 2020 to 73.6% in 2022. This means that we haves have many important and life changing projects that we need the help of mission teams to take on.

Our teams pick which project they feel called to take on, which will most often depend on the actual number of participants that sign up to go. Each person must pay a $480 for the costs of food, lodging, transportation, as well as a side trip to see some the nearby lake and waterfall on the team’s rest day. In addition to these costs, each team chooses a project or activity that their team will work on throughout the week. We find that a project budget of $400 per trip participant will help a team identify the right project for their trip size.

As an example… a 15 person team could raise the $6000 (15 x $400) in project expenses together, while each team member would then pay for their $450 room and board portion. With $6000 in project funds, the team would be able to build 4 houses (4 x $1500) during their 8 day trip, or they could put that money towards the construction of a church, a community playground, or improvements at a local orphanage , etc. There are numerous project options available, depending on the number of team members and the type of projects that the team would like to work on while they are here.
